Features & Benefits
Extended Bonnets are used when a valve must be operated from a distance above due to structural, buried, or submerged conditions. A thrust bearing is provided when stem weight exceeds limit for proper operation. Features include:
1. Upper End Adapter - Machined to match valve stem and mate to actuator hub and key.
2. Shaft Extension - Transmits torque from actuator to valve Standard: Carbon steel Optional: T304 or T316 stainless steel.
3. Mounting Extension - Flanged, SCH 40 or SCH 80, carbon steel pipe. Protects stem from external contaminants and obstruction and elevates actuator to desired position.
4. Lower Shaft Coupling - Matches shaft extension material. Mates to valve shaft and key.
5. Upper Mounting Flange - Machined and drilled for direct mount to actuator mounting flange.
6. Lower Mounting Flange - Machined and drilled to match valve mounting flange.
7. Closed-Position Stop - provided when shaft deflection exceeds AWWA limits.
• Patent-pending design ensures accurate closing position.
• Compensates for angular deflection of long extensions at the connection to the valve per the requirements of AWWA C504 and AWWA M49.
• Inspection port allows for visual verification of stop engagement.
• Easy conversion of opening direction for clockwise or counterclockwise input.
• Modular design maintains closed-position calibration even when actuator and/or extension section is removed.
