Asphaltic Coating
We furnish Ductile iron pipe and fittings with an exterior asphaltic coating, also known as seal coat, at approximately 1-mil thickness. Although studies have shown that standard seal coating added to the annealing oxide layer on the surface of Ductile iron pipe has a positive impact on corrosion resistance, it is not intended as stand-alone protection in corrosive environments. Please contact your local McWane Ductile representative for assistance with additional protective coatings and linings.
