The new S-6000 Waterman Heavy-Duty Sluice/Slide Gates are designed and constructed for long life in critical applications such as dams and rivers, tidal environments, wastewater treatment plants, and any critical operation where the ultimate in reliable, long-lasting performance is essential.
The AWWA-C560-21 compliant S-6000 gates are made from cast ductile iron – which is stronger and lighter weight than typical gray iron – feature a proven design from Waterman, one of the industry’s oldest and most reliable manufacturers of cast iron sluice gates, with thousands of gates in operation worldwide.
These cast ductile iron gates offer a thick, rigid frame and cover, and are engineered to handle high heads and environments with floating debris. The cover and frame designs are fully tested to meet or exceed AWWA design specifications using finite element analysis. Stress and deflection are calculated to withstand both seating and unseating heads and other external loading. FEA Analysis confirms that the gate will perform with maximum reliability and minimum leakage. Other quality features include:
- Both the frame and cover feature low leakage and machine matched seating surfaces for a reliable, corrosion resistant closure
- Bottom seating surfaces are available as metallic in a “standard” bottom or media resistant elastomer for a “flush” bottom installation
- A “full width dovetail” seat is permanently fixed to the frame and cover, without fasteners or pins, eliminating the possibility of leakage between the seat and the casting
- Fully adjustable wedge system offers simple adjustment and easy maintenance, guaranteeing performance and consistency in service.
